Registration

  • $500 first price in all 3 categories, brisket, ribs, and chicken.

    Additional Details will be emailed to contestants. Arrival 24 March, Judging on 25 March.

    1. Teams will consist of one (1) chief cook and up to four (4) team members. Each team must cook on their own pit. Each team shall provide their own meats. All meats must be cooked on site.

    2. All fires to prepare meat in this contest must be of wood/wood products, or charcoal. No gas or electric cooking equipment will be allowed for contest meats. Propane may be used to start your fire.
    No fires will be allowed on the ground and/or dug pits permitted. Please provide ash cans. Each team must bring an up-to-date tagged fire extinguisher.

    3. Pre-seasoning or cooking of any meats shall not begin until it has been inspected. This will be done during check-in.

    4. Chief Cook shall be responsible for the conduct of his/her team and guests. The excessive use of alcoholic beverages shall be grounds for disqualification. Under no circumstances are alcoholic beverages to be sold by anyone other than local Lytle businesses and none shall be offered to any minors.

    5. Entry fee will be $100 per team (Remember this is a fund raiser for scholarships). Each team will be allowed one team assigned spot (20x20). Pop-up trailers and motor homes are NOT allowed in the cook area. Tents, canopies, tables and chairs are allowed in the team assigned space. All sites are primitive. Electricity and water at any specific sites are not available. (There is an off-site location where RVs and camper trailers may be parked (no services available)).

    6. Judging will be done on a double number system. This system assures fair competition. This system requires that two tickets bearing the same number be utilized, one firmly attached to the bottom of the judging tray the other ticket is removed and retained by the cook. It is the cooks’ responsibility to retain the ticket! Winning numbers will not be revealed until time to announce each place in each category. At that time the secret numbers attached to the tray/cup will be removed and announced.

    Categories:

    1. Brisket – Each team should submit seven slices of brisket cut ¼” thick in judging container. No garnishments. This brisket will be judged.
    2. Ribs – Each team wishing to enter this event shall provide seven (7) pork spare ribs – no baby back or country ribs. Ribs need to be cut individually.
    3. Chicken – ½ fully jointed (wing tips and all)
    4. Jackpot Beans – Each team interested will cook beans on site and turn in container provided with nothing larger than the beans in it.

    We ask that everyone have a truly safe and enjoyable time. The Lytle Texas Music Fest, Greater Lytle Chamber of Commerce, City of Lytle, local businesses, and/or anyone associated with the cook-off will not be responsible for theft or damage to equipment, or bodily injury of any kind. Decisions of the

They city of Lytle, in Coordination with the Chamber of Commerce, will hold a Music Festival on 24 and 25 March, 2023.
We are seeking interested vendors for the 24th and 25th.
Vendors - Chamber member vendors pay nothing.
For a discounted rate at the Lytle Best Western notify them that you are attending the Lytle Music Fest.

The Greater Lytle Area Chamber of Commerce is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization established to foster a positive and prosperous business environment in the Lytle, Texas area. Donations and membership dues to a 501(c)(6) are not tax deductible but may be written off as a business expense.
